Surprising 18 year old?

So Christmas 2015 I'm taking my niece on first ever cruise (on Vision). Her birthday is October so it is combo birthday/Christmas present for turning 18.

 

She likes to plan and I of course want to make sure she wants to go so before pif date next September 20 I want to let her know about surprise.

 

I'm NOT creative but wanted some ideas like sending 3-4 of some kind of postcard with cruise ship being last post card to let her know. Any other good ways of surprising 18 year old girl for first cruise?? Any ideas welcome!!!

Does she like word game puzzles?

Could mail her postcards with subtle hints using anagrams or pictograms

Well you could take her a bon voyage cake!

Or maybe buy her some new luggage for her B Day with a note inside!

Or tell her you have reservations at a restaurant (at a port) and tell her the address.....

I like the postcard idea. Make it into a scavenger hunt. Each card gives a hint and the last one the location of prize.

How about a scavenger hunt where you hang gift tags around the house for her to find and on the reverse of the tags have the port names that you will be stopping at, you could also add other clues in like stuff to do on the boat swimming, sunbathing, shows etc

I might have to enlist her mom to help if I go scavenger hunt route bc currently I live out of stAte (hoping for that to change though!!)

Yeah word puzzles sound good or a progressive scavenger hunt where each item is boat memorabilia and last one is an obvious one to show cruise
