Passport info for Carnival AU cruises

Any idea how long before a cruise, passport info has to be handed over to cruiseline? Am asking as grandsons do not have passports yet. Youngest is only 11mths old, and it seems silly to apply now as he will def change in looks....apart from the fact that childrens passports only last 5 yrs.....so the later the better. We are cruising with them in July 2015 with Carnival.

Jen once they have their passports just put in the details, Carnival might need them by final payment
