love2traveljen Posted August 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) I am wanting to put a hole in the sail and sign cards and clip on a reel lanyard, it will be easier for the kids to keep the keys safe. Just wondering if they punch a hole on your sail and sign? Say in the gift shop? I know when i worked on royal they did that for passengers. Just wondering if not I'll get a cheap one at the dollar store. Thanks! love2cruise89 Posted August 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2014 On my last cruise a Carnival employee was standing right onboard when you cross the bridge to punch our cards.
firemanbobswife Posted August 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2014 I bring my own and have it punched and on my lanyard before I get on the ship. Make sure it's not a super cheap one as the cards are kind of thick.

Rosefloater Posted August 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) We always go to the casino to get our cards punched! The casino attendants usually won't punch a hole if the card belongs to a kid. Edited August 26, 2014 by Rosefloater
thomarvin Posted August 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2014 If you do it yourself just check front and back of the card before you punch. don't want to mess up the bar code for the key access or the magnetic strip on the back for purchases. I had quest services do it and SHE messed it up twice. So she had to keep giving me new cards.

We were aft so had to walk the whole way back to GS to have them repunch them. Also they have two sizes of hole punch. The regular size, and a teeny one that is barely big enough for your lanyard ring (depending upon it's size), so look carefully before you step away from the window. firemanbobswife Posted August 27, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Does carnival provide lanyards or is it bring your own? Sent from my iPhone using Forums The casino has ones that remind me of old fashioned telephone cords. I am not a fan since they tangle easily and are so long. We have some from Busch Gardens that we use. We have also bought some ship specific ones on Celebrity. If you fill out the credit card offer onboard, you will get a little goodie bad which has a lanyard in it as well.

I actually have a purple one somewhere unless it broke and I threw it out. But yes they are mostly blue and red. Never saw a black one. funinthesun1964 Posted August 27, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 27, 2014 We did a behind the fun tour on our Pride cruise and they gave us lanyards at the end, along with a couple of other things. We saved the lanyards and now use them when we cruise. We got sick of those coilly from the casino, they always seem to get tangled and sometimes it was like pulling teeth to get them. You had to be sitting at a machine and actually spinning the reels for them to give you one. I don't blame them, they are worth, what about $20 ea. at least  So yeah we take our own lanyards, but I did see some *pretty* *blingy* lanyards in the gift shop. Not that expensive, like 5-10 range? I saw silver and red bling for sure. There's another option.
CruiseAwesome Posted August 27, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 27, 2014 We've had casino workers refusing to punch DDs cards because they had the Kid's Club sticker on it. Same happened to me, all I needed was a hole punched. Not the nuclear war codes. I guess rules are rules though. thomarvin Posted August 27, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 27, 2014 We bring our own lanyards. They can be a great conversation starter. Get one from a favorite sports team or your home town. We met some people from the next town.

You had to be sitting at a machine and actually spinning the reels for them to give you one. I go to the cashier and ask for a hole punch and they put it on a lanyard every time without me asking. I have also seen workers on the floor walking around with lanyards looking to punch holes for people. One time they punched holes in the kid's cards but said they couldn't give them a casino lanyard. On the premier cruises, they give out black and red cloth lanyards that say Players Club instead of the usual Carnival plastic coils.
