Stevie Lawson Posted August 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Hello All, We have a cruise on the Jewel of the Seas and a flight to Miami from San Juan at 3pm. Looking for suggestions for the return journey, Any suggestions much appreciated... Thinking Option 1 would be to take a cab to the hotel where we will stay on arrival, Caribe Hilton. And spend morning there where we could store luggage and have some food in comfortable surroundings. Then get a cab to airport about 12 o'clock. Option 2, would it be worth going straight to the airport and dropping bags with American Airlines and get check in and agriculture check done, then get cab to hotel for a few hours, with just security left when we got back to airport. Done a bit of research on SJU airport and expect it to be crowded. It is a Saturday and we are the only ship in port. The ships tours appear to still arrive at airport too early. Thanks. Clarea Posted August 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Our experience with the ship tour was that we arrived at the airport around 2pm. Your flight might be too early from some ship tours. Another option is to take a taxi to a restaurant in Old San Juan named Barranchina's. They will store your bags. Tour Old San Juan for a few hours, eat lunch at the restaurant, then taxi to the airport.
Rare BillOh Posted August 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I'll add that in May when we returned to the airport to fly out on Southwest, it wasn't very crowded at all, the Agriculture check took 2 minutes and main security 20 minutes. Rare Familygoboston Posted August 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Ill second Barranchina, it's a very nice set up for cruisers, very well organized and unlike your hotel, where you might not be welcome to use the facilities without paying a day rate, you can have all of OSJ within walking (or free tram) distance. Stevie Lawson Posted August 27, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Many thanks everyone, much appreciated. Barrachina looks a great option and gives us the opportunity of some nice food before our overnight flight back to Scotland. We are on a back to back cruise, so might try this place out in the middle of the cruise. Cheers:)

It's also in Old San Juan and we've gone there for lunch between B2B cruises before.
