travel1104 Posted August 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Does anyone know of a river cruise or company that has guests from several countries rather than mostly USA or English speaking. I would like to be able to meet people from other countries when traveling abroad. Thanks.
Rare Hlitner Posted August 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Careful for what you wish. There are some German speaking river cruise lines such as A-Rosa Stella where most of the passengers will be from Germany and Austria. But, unless you speak German, you might find yourself a bit lonely when it comes to conversation. Keep in mind that many companies (both cruise and river) tend to solidify around their primary language. While a majority of companies use English, there are companies that utilize German, French, and even some other languages. If you cruise on a foreign language vessel you must be prepared for announcements to be made in the primary language, excursions generally in the primary language (some river cruises include excursions) and entertainment in the primary language. So if you have a comedian who does his/her routine in German or French are you going to be satisfied? There are also some Spanish speaking lines, but they are not known for high quality.
