How bad is the Explorer?

Recommended Posts

We did both the Explorer and NCL Dawn last year. The Explorer - like the Dawn - is an older ship and several thousand people occupy it every week, so it will look a little dated and worn, as does the Dawn!

That said, I don't mind the older ships at all, and can live with some stains and rust as long as everything is kept clean, and they were always washing, painting, etc. I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed the Dawn - and I cruised in suites both times I cruised the Dawn, but in a Promenade room on the Explorer. We have a Promenade room booked on the Ex for this fall and are looking forward to sailing her again before she leaves. A dry dock will spruce her up, but she really is a nice old girl!
