WiFi on the Allure

Can anyone tell me what's the internet speed like on the Allure? I'm thinking of getting the unlimited package but won't invest if it's super slow or constant disconnect or of it involves constant logins.

When are you cruising?

 

The reason to ask is that Allure is scheduled to get an Internet service upgrade sometime in the next few months to the 03b broadband technology. The new Internet speed will be much faster than the current performance.

I am on Allure right now with the wifi package. It is slower than at home but emails and texts (wifi texting app) are working very well. Surfing the internet hasn't been terrible either. The only real issue I'm having is downloading books to my Kindle app. I made the mistake of forgetting to download a couple and it took probably 20 minutes to download one book. But being able to text the kids and pet sitter makes the package worth it for us.

It might have been my phone but the wifi on the allure in may was horrible. It was very slow and I often got disconnected. I would have been pissed if that hour hadn't been free.

I'm sailing next week and was thinking of buying the unlimited package so that my 3 year old could watch Netflix.

 

I'm guessing that wouldn't be a good idea now, huh?

I doubt you would have functional video streaming.

I seriously doubt streaming will work. We were told by staff that you could Skype but if it takes 20+ minutes to download a book I doubt streaming will work at all.
