Is there time to go to Cinque Terre fromPortofino?

We will be stopping in Portofino on our Windsurf cruise. I was told there was time to take the bus to Santa Margharita and the train to Riomaggiore, walk on the path to the next town, look around, take the train back to Santa Margharita, and bus back to Portofino. Has anyone done this or have first hand knowledge if it can be done? I'd hate to miss the ship on our second stop.

We did go to the Cinque Terre from Portofino this past May and were

able to do it in one day. It will also depend on what time you arrive

and sail. We happened to be sailing very late that night.

We took the 10:00am train and returned to Portofino about 5:00pm.

You might not have time to do the whole hike seeing the five towns, but

you can see at least three of them as we did.
