Casinos and cash?

I have seen a lot of threads where people mentioned using their cards in the slot machines in the casinos. Can you no longer use cash in the casino? I have always taken a specific amount of cash dedicated only for using in the casino and don't really want it mixed up with the funds I have available for my sail & sign account. If you can't use cash, how does it all work using your sail & sign account.

If it helps, I am not a huge gambler. I pretty much only dedicate $10 a day or so for playing a little while on the slot machines.

Yes you can use cash. I always use my card because then I charge all my sail and sign to my Carnival credit card and get the extra points. You will need your sign and sail card to get any money on the machine off though so you should probably set up your card the 1st day.

You can still use cash. When you first start gambling, you put your S&S card into the machine. Then you set up a PIN. Put your money into the machine and play. When you are done playing and if you have any money left, you cash out by transferring it to the separate account that you set up. If you want to play on another machine, you put your card in, enter your PIN, then tell the machine how much money from that account that you want to put into the new machine. At any time that you have money in that account, you can go to the casino cage and tell them you want cash. They swipe your card, you enter your PIN, they will give you the cash. It's real simple and if you need help, there is always somebody there to help.

You can use cash in the machines however you also have to insert your S & S card. When you cash out it will go on your card. The machine will not pay you cash. You can take your card over to the players club window and they will take it off your S & S card and give you the cash.

Two separate accounts. Casino cash goes on your Players bank. You can use as much cash as you want but all winnings go to the players bank. If you have a lot of money in your Players bank, you can play off that. You can also transfer your SS CARD money to your Players bank. At the end of the cruise, go to the casino cage and check out.

How do you set up a Player's Bank? I don't play slots, only Black Jack. So can you use your card at a Black Jack table or just cash?

You can use your card, but it will cost you 3% more to do that. Easiest thing is to use the Slot machine like an ATM -- set up account, download money to machine, spin a few times. Load money on card, then go to cage and take money off card. You don't get the upcharge that way.

How many spins is a "few times?" Is there some limit to this? Like if I need $500 for table games, would playing the 3% in the slot machine ($15) be enough or do they get smart and stop you from doing that after so many times? Would playing $15 in a slot machine take forever?

As many have already said. CASH or your PLAYERS BANK via sail-n-sign card.

I play slots and some tables but mostly slots. I put all my slot playing on my card and allow the charge to go through at the end of the cruise onto my CARNIVAL card for double points. Then just pay it off at home. It gets lumped into the whole CARNIVAL bill as a PURCHASE not a cash advance.

I also always use my card so it shows activity on my Players account to keep the CASINO offers coming on my "VIFP SPECIAL OFFERS". I get them all the time. I will also be sure to say HI to the Pitt Boss and floor manager every time I am in there so they remember me. :) After so much playing accumulates, the casino floor manager has always asked if I would like a free complimentary drink. I have also seen them hand out random vouchers for free or discounted cruises.

It pays to be SEEN, REMEMBERED & KNOWN by the guys in the suits. :D I'm not a "Big spender" by any means, its simply learning little things to get you perks. Ive already received a FREE CRUISE/SUITE offer, SLOT TOURNAMENT winner & another big casino hit. Granted the "wins" were luck, but I still believe in the background the Player's club keeps track of any activity.
