Last minute question-kids and dining

You don't mention which cruise line you're sailing on, but my understanding is that even children should adhere to the suggested dress for the evening, at least for dinner.

I have a 13-y.o. daughter and she has been sailing since she was 7. She's always enjoyed getting dressed up for dinner, although I admit that it gets harder and harder to get her to stay in those special outfits past dinner.

I think it depends on the age and style, if shorts are acceptable, as we have seen many toddlers on cruises wearing shortalls with the smockings, and those definitely are more dressier then what some adults wear on casual night. So to me it depends on the shorts.
