mzlinda Posted September 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Is there a slot tournament on every cruise. Are they by invitation only? I think I earned about 1000 points on my Breeze cruise in January which was not enough to earn any casino perks but I've always wanted to play in a tournament. lostdart1 Posted September 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Yes there is a slots tournament on just about every cruise. It is $25 to enter. You can enter as many times as you like during the preliminaries. I think it is only $15 to enter again. Top 9 scores in the prelims get to the finals. $500 1st prize. Usually the 9 finalist get a tshirt. Top two finishers qualify for the year end $100,000 Grand Slots tournament which is in November. You have to book and PAY for the cruise. It is fun but there is absolutely NO skill involved. Edited September 19, 2014 by lostdart1
Luckysll Posted September 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2014 There is usually at least one slot tournament during a 7 day cruise. Times will be listed in the Fun Times. The tournament is open to anyone and is $20 per entry. If you are Platinum, you get 2 entries for the $20 (buy one get one free). You can enter as many times as you want, paying $20 each time. The casino will have 12 slot machines set aside for the tournament and you sign up to play a specific machine at a certain time (usually at about 10 minute intervals). Top 11 scores from all rounds are listed on a leader board and those highest 11 scores advance to the final round. They will draw for the 12th spot. You have to be present if they call your ticket number. I always enter the tournaments. One of these days I'll make it to the finals. If I make it to the leader board, I've never managed to stay on the leader board for more than a round or two. :D

lostdart1 Posted September 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Interesting that different ships may have a different amount of machines and entry fee....but the concept is still the same. I did it on the Valor in June of this year Edited September 19, 2014 by lostdart1

They've really changed then since the last time I cruised. I do remember it be $20 on some cruises and it was $25 in May. Number of players in each round also varies. Sometimes it is 8 sometime 10 and on one cruise it was 12. I was told by a casino host that is does vary by ship depending on the layout of the casino, number of passengers and types of machines in a bank. No matter how they do the preliminaries there is only one first place winner.
winddawn Posted September 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2014 The last few times that I have cruised, the price of the tournament had increased from $20 to $25. On some ships, the prize is $300 and on others it is $500. The slot tournament is open to anyone that wants to pay the entry fee and play. The only exception to this that I know of is on the Premier casino cruises where the slot tournament is restricted to invited premier guests. Carnival has also been doing a promotion this year where the first and second places also get an invitation to the 2014 Ultimate Slot Face Of Tournament on Carnival Breeze on November 8, 2014. That prize is only the entry; you still have to pay for the Breeze cruise and the price is pretty high comparatively speaking. It is a lot of fun. PittsburghGirlee Posted September 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Also..if u are PLATINUM..it is a BOGO..most do not take advantage of this as they are not aware.. This is only for the regular slot tourney and not on the PREMIER cruises!!! Cheers from Pittsburgh via my iPhone!!
winddawn Posted September 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2014 I'm sure if we stick around, things will change again. I have won 2 entries to the Ultimate Slot Face Off Tournament this year but don't plan to use them. One was for a 2nd place win and the other was for a 1st place win. mzlinda Posted September 19, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Thanks for all the info. I know there isn't any skill involved because I've already tried everything - begging, pleading, pushing the spin button, pulling the handle, wearing my lucky socks, and rubbing the screen - those darn slot machines always take my money and they rarely give it back, but it sure is fun Sent from my iPhone using Forums
