DYKWIA Posted September 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2014 On our recent 14 night Med cruise on The Eclipse ex Southampton we had 3 Formal Nights. 2 of these were on sea days and the 3rd was on a port day. This was on a cruise with 6 sea days. The Formal nights were on The First Sea (Day 2), The Port of Genoa (Day 9), and The Fifth Sea Day (Day 13). Most of the ship appeared to dress up for the formal nights with probably about 60% of men opting for a Dinner Suit / Tux - The rest smart suit and tie. 1 or 2 did sneak in to the MDR Jacket / no tie - but these were VERY few and far between. cardcrafter Posted September 25, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Thanks for info. Just surprised they don't publish when the formal nights are....
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2014 They don't publish for several reasons -- 1. they need some flexibility in case there is a problem with the entertainment, since they try to have their big stage shows on the formal nights 2. flexibility also in case of unexpected itinerary changes, due to weather, strikes, etc. causing last minute port substitutions 3. they sometimes "tweak" their schedules based on feedback from cruisers on the previous cruises if the itineraries were the same
