Repositioning Activities?

Hubby and I are considering the 19-April-2015 Repositioning Cruise on the NCL Dawn embarking in New Orleans and travelling to Boston. All told SEVEN days at sea.

Hmm. We've cruised a lot, but all of our cruises have been port-oriented. Maybe a day between three or five days of ports where you just sleep in and rest - but never this many days at sea. Years ago we even did 15 days in the Med, with only two days where we were not in port ... I could have used an additional day of rest on that one!

Anyway, what do you do for seven days at sea? Are there movies, lectures - something other than drinking and gambling (since I don't do a lot of either one)?

Can someone who has done this cruise (or one like it) share daily activity bulletins for the at-sea days ... or just share what you do to be engaged during those days?

Thanks.

We are on the Dawn repo out of Boston on Nov. 7 down to New Orleans. It is a 14 night cruise with 7 total sea days. There are 3 days at sea, San Juan, sea day, Curacao, Aruba, sea day, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, 2 sea days, New Orleans. We also did a 14 night repo 11/1/09 on the Dawn. On sea days, when the weather permits, I catch the rays up on deck and read. On days when the weather is not sunny and warm, NCL will have many scheduled activities, bingo, and the casino is always open when not in port. Also, if you have visited your roll call, many times people will schedule different activities as a group for on sea days. On our cruise, there is a Meet & Mingle, cabin crawl (with poker), a slot pull, a horse race, and scheduled LCR games. The sea days are definitely a great way to get lots of R&R. We love the longer cruises and the sea days. Keep in mind, they are not all in a row, as you would get if you were doing a Trans Atlantic crossing. I am sure you will be able to find many things to keep you busy and the days will just fly by!!

I have to agree with everyone on this... On the two reposition cruises we enjoyed (Dawn and Spirit) the sea days were packed with tons of activities if you were looking for something to do. Most times we chose to relax at the poolside and listen to the band(s) and relax and read or just soak up some sun!

The crew also has some unique events that only happen on the repo's so look for those as well! I count the two repo cruises we went on among the best trips we've had ever!

My parents have done the Dawn repo cruise to Boston I think 3 times and they're doing it again this April. The first time they did the repo cruise they met a lot of people who are "regulars" that do that cruise and they've all become friends and meet up every cruise. A lot of them stay in suites and have little parties in each others cabins on sea days. They're all very nice, friendly people and I'm sure if you meet up with one of them, especially my dad lol, you'll get to see some nice suites and have some fun times.

drink

eat

gamble

sleep

chill

read

walk

attend a few "events"

honey time

We always take a bunch of movies on ipad...but barely watch them. Planned book reading rarely happens.

As you can see below, we tend to take the longer cruises with lots of sea days. Never enough days.

I thoroughly enjoy sea days and really look forward to them.

We like the fact that we can have a leisurely morning, without having to get up early to disembark for a shore excursion.

There are a lot of activities scheduled on sea days, and there is a good variety to choose from. I am a bit on the hyper side, so I love to run around the ship doing pretty much any activities. My dh is a bit more laid back. He will often chill in our cabin watching movies or taking a nap. While I run around on the ship with my daily schedule doing activities that I think are fun -- wii bowling, trivia, a lecture on photography. Then in the evening, there are a lot of fun entertainment choices that my dh and I will do.

My dh and I love chilling on deck in a lounge chair. Watching the ocean roll by, visiting with workers, visiting with other passengers, reading, taking a nap. I always have my small shoulder bag with my book and my x-stitch needlework. My dh and I love to people watch.

Then there's the casino -- I love to play the slots. Dh hangs out with me there. Then there's food, food, and more food!!!!!

Sea days feel so very relaxing to me. We take that time to explore the ship. Checking out each deck and all that is offered. We just don't take the time to do that on port days, as those days are FUN, but just a bit more hectic.

We sometimes hang out in the library. So quiet and peaceful, and really nice views. There is a good variety of non-fiction books that are fun, and really interesting to browse through. You can also check out books from the library.

I spend time in the hot tub on sea days. My dh usually just hangs out on the pool deck reading or relaxing when I do the hot tub. I have met and visited with some great, fun people in the hot tub.

I brought along our travel backgammon game. The game room on the Jewel was a busy, hopping place on our August cruise. Most always filled with people having a super time! But, most of the games are missing pieces. So, if you like games or cards, you best bring your own. There are many travel sized versions of many, many games that you could buy and bring along. I also brought our cribbage board game, but haven't played in years and years. I forgot the instructions, so we never did play that.

We are never, ever bored on sea days.

My absolute FAVORITE NCL cruises were repos. The entertainment staff are totally fluid. Nothing is written in stone, so there is always something fun going on. If something is scheduled and weather doesn't permit it, they have a Plan B. I envy you. I wish I were going on that cruise. I love sea days.

Have fun :)

I am on the Dawn Nov 7th too. It is clear from our roll call thread that many, many, of these folks have cruised with each other before. Every one is being refereed to as Cruzin Cuzin's.

Please excuse me for jumping in..

I noticed that in March 2013, you asked a question about Bonorong Park re: the difference in going during the day or at night. Did you go to one or both? I am going in March 2015 and would like some info.

Thanks, again and pardon my butting in on this thread.
