Stockholm question

Should not be a problem. We went to the Vasa first, and spent at least a couple of hours (or more!) there. It is fascinating and deserves more than a cursory look. There are several displays on different levels to explore, including the skeletons found on board and and the anthropologists' reports about what the people were like. Then we went to the old city and walked around, shopped, took pictures, and went to the Ice Gallery. We also went to the Royal Palace.

We just returned from Stockholm, and if that is all you want to do, then it is possible. It also depends on how interested you are and how much time you want to spend at the Museum. We found an hour there sufficient, but others may enjoy more. Old Town is very charming and interesting, but quite small. You can spend a little or a lot of time there depending on how many shops/bars/restaurants you choose to stop in.

We even had time to see the 20 minute film on history of Vasa and get to Old Town in time for the changing of the guard, walk around Old Town and get on the shuttle half hour before the last one.

Make sure you have Swedish money if you plan on taking the ferry to Vasa.

We did it in the opposite order. We took a 2 hour walking tour of old town with Maria from Stockholm Stories and then took a ferry to the VASA. We walked around the exhibit for awhile and took the ferry back and walked around the downtown area. We did not have time to also see city hall which I would have liked to have seen - always next time!
