Hi - will be in San Juan Feb 2015 trying to decide between Stellaris or La Concha for a few days post cruise - which do you prefer & why? Read most of the reviews on Trip Advisor & will be using a combo of points/cash for either hotel. Thanks in advance!!!

La Concha is amazing......if it doesn't cost more I think their pools and beach are the best. Their pools beat Stellaris in my opinion, but it is a close race.....I truly love both.

Thanks everyone!! Appreciate the info on the spa suites...I do have a suite and a junior suite reserved at La Concha just not sure which one to keep..some reviews say the suites are better others say no, totally understand everyone has their own preferences...thanks again - any other input on rooms or local area would be great!!

We've stayed at LaConcha for a few nights back in March. Loved this hotel!!! Just be sure to request a room in the new part of the hotel.

Ok thanks for the tip on La Concha - is there a certain type of room that is in the new part of the hotel?

Yes Camaro,,,most if not all the rooms are suites,,,so let them know that you would like a room in the suite tower and that will be the newest part of the hotel.

I stayed at the Marriott two days post-cruise back in May of 2009. Unfortunately, it poured rain much of the two days. Still, I really enjoyed the area and their little casino was good to me.

Encountered an incredibly rude bartender in the lobby. We had to wait to check into the room (of course, having gotten off a ship that morning, I didn't expect the room to be ready). By the time we got in, we were starving, so we (my college-age DD and I) went down to the lobby, thinking we'd have a drink and maybe could get some bar snacks to hold us over until dinner. Sat down at the bar and the man completely and utterly ignored us. Seriously. It was like we were invisible. I should've gone to the desk and complained but we just got up after about 5 minutes of him turning his back on us and walked down the street to Danny's and got a very good pizza. Plus, the carpet in the room was very wet in places. We ended up sitting there most of the only sunny afternoon waiting for maintenance to show up. After two calls, somone finally showed up with towels and put them on the floor. :(

Anyway, I got the room at a good price (my first Priceline attempt), but don't know that I'd go back. I was just a little disappointed in the overall experience. Our cruise was a-port-a-day, so we were tired, but it just really wasn't what I was expecting.

I'll be at La Concha for 1 night pre-cruise on Halloween. Apparently they have a big Halloween party. I booked via Hotwire, and emailed asking to request two beds (I'm travelling with a cruise buddy) and something away from the noise and activity and was told they could do that for an addl $25. Given the posted rates, it's still a good deal.

I'll post back here when we return in early November.
