Fun Place to Spend Day Near Fort Lauderdale

I need some suggestions on where to spend the day while waiting for our 6:50pm flight back home. I was thinking about renting a car when we got off of the ship and then driving to a nearby town to explore. Would love to go to Key West but way to far from FLL so any other suggestions? This will be on Sunday, November 9.

Hollywood beach. Rent a bike or two, relax on the beach, have a nice lunch before heading to the airport.

You can drive to South Beach for lunch and people watching if you haven't been. It's fun to rent Segways and zip along the beach along Ocean Drive.

Your challenge is going to be your luggage and where to check it. You could go to the Renaissance Hotel or the Hilton Marina and give the bell desk a nice tip to look after it for you then go and spend the day on the Water Taxi cruising the Intracoastal Waterway.
