Carnival Management Screws up again!

Had the same situation on the carnival dream some years ago. The kids met in the disco in fact. Lots of activities - just the location changed to check in. Your daughter will be fine and will have lots of fun! (And will feel like a big kid when she's in the disco! )

If during the cruise there was an issue that caused the room to be unsafe or in need of repairs so that it had to be closed on, say, day 2 if the cruise would you expect to have your cruise refunded? Just because they had to move the area?

I don't get all the anger over this.

When we sailed on the Dream in January 2014, there were a lot of kids. Due to potential for crowding in the camp, they added other venues and updated the camp newsletter. Some of my children were moved to the conference rooms which were set up well for the purpose of camp both in activities and security. There was always someone at a desk that blocked the door (exit). I will ask them how bathroom breaks were handled when they wake up today and come back to tell you. We knew nothing about what would occur at camp until we boarded and went to the orientation night. We had seen sample schedules from prior cruises, but we knew that this could and would change by the time that we sailed. Honestly, we thought the camp was great even though it didn't always take place in the colorful room :D

I woke up this morning six days out from my cruise on Carnival Magic. I have a 7-year-old daughter who has been looking forward to the cruise and especially Camp Carnival. As I went through my emails (part of my normal morning routine), I see I got an email from Carnival. I'm expecting it is just some nonsense about the cruise (you know - buy your excursions, don't forget about our duty free shops, or something like that).

NOPE!

It was a notice that Camp Carnival will closed (the rooms - they say they will still have activities and supervision) and that the schedule will be "slightly modified". The notice was not detailed at all - VERY vague. (see notice below)

I have emailed my PVP and am waiting his reply. This is horrible customer service and management in my opinion. I think this will be my last Carnival Cruise.

Has anyone had similar experiences with Carnival or any other cruise line (i.e. last minute notifications of changes)?

You were notified before your cruise started. If you're that unhappy, cancel you cruise. Yes, you'll lose your money but what's more important......your money or your happiness? Such drama from two different people about the same thing in two different threads is astounding.

Don't worry.. Carnival has you covered. They'll open up the casino to all ages. Just plop your daughter in front of a slot machine and they're you go.. entertainment for the full day!

I realize you were being sarcastic, but that would be awesome. They let them pump quarters into video games in the arcade with either no, or a much smaller chance, of winning anything. We might as well let them play slots. When my kid was 10 he would have played for hours, and I could have at least got some casino perks out of the deal.

Bugs,

I think the camp thing will work itself out. I'm sure they know this is going to be an issue, and will have a good plan to deal with it. There might even be more things for the kids to do, as they will be keenly aware that people are watching the situation with skeptical eyes. While I understand being annoyed with getting that news, and feeling like something you were promised is being taken away, there really was no good way to notify people. Hope it all works out, and you guys have a great cruise.

My sons (16 & 13) have both been sailing since they were 6 months old. We usually do holiday sailings. We have had over 2,000 kids on board. When this happens they move different age groups to different locations. Like other posters have said the disco, conference rooms, library. They still have tables blocking the entrance with someone checking in/out kids. We have found that my kids have had more fun in the other locations because they do other special things like bring the dancers in to work with them.

No cruise is perfect it's what you make of it. out of all the cruises we have been on there has only been 1 on CCL were my kids didn't like the camp. If you want to be sure your child can get ahold of you bring walkie talkies they work great when they want to be picked up early or just to check in.

Go and have fun!!!:)

Here is the notice (note that the email was completely blank - just had this attachment):

You really don't have to be worried at all. Most of their best activities don't even take place in the Camp Carnival rooms themselves. In fact the best activities take place out on the ship where they do scavenger hunts, pretend to be pirates, all sorts of wonderful things!
