We sail Fantasy again in a couple of weeks. This will be cruise #15 for us, and we've sailed on the smallest and the largest in the fleet, going back to Jubilee, which is smaller than Fantasy. We fell in love with Fantasy when we first sailed her out of new Orleans. It's a bonus that she's ported in our home state these days. Fantasy, as mentioned has held up better than other vessels in the class, but she is starting to wear a bit, but she's still a fantastic ship, and we can't wait to step aboard again!!!

I was on here this past Jan and she was in great shape. I have 2 more trips planned (Jan and March).

I have only been on 1 other ship (Legend) and will be on Conquest in few weeks, but I LOVE the smaller ship. I don't need all the bells and whistles (I am not someone who will do a ropes course or anything like that. Give me a lounge chair, the water, and relaxation with some casino time and I am 1 happy cruiser.

Look, I have NEVER sailed on Carnival, but would like to give them a shot some day.

However, after 44 cruises, the Fantasy class is a classic. It's not a small ship. It's over 70K tons, as large as QE2, and larger than Titanic. The interiors are over the top Joe Farcus design - so what?

Keep the ship in shape, upgrade when necessary (God knows they did that many times with QE2!) and she's good to go.

I dare say that if I ever get around to going Carnival, Fantasy would be my choice for a short cruise.

Everyone these days seems to be thinking about about HUGE and NEW. I just wish I had sailed on Mardi Gras!! Thankfully I did tour her one time.

There are cruisers, and then there are ship lovers.

  • 4 weeks later...

I love the Fantasy class ships!!! Smaller crowds and the intimate feeling is what I like. I sailed on the Breeze in 2013 and yes it is a beautiful ship and we had a great time but the most fun I have had has been on the Fantasy class. I also enjoyed the Destiny class before it was renamed the Sunshine, both of my cruises on the Destiny offered some of the best food I have ever had on a carnival ship.

We absolutely love Fantasy & have our 3rd cruise on her coming up next week.

We have had only 1 complaint & that was that this past May. Not sure if it was due to the age of the ship or that the weather was unseasonably hot, but the AC was having a hard time keeping up. This was very noticeable in our stateroom & in other areas of the ship, the piano bar in particular. When showing our stateroom steward how our camera was even steaming up so that we couldn't take pics in there, he provided us with a fan. That was a wonderful relief for the duration of our cruise. The comedy club was also a cool respite all hours of the day/night.

Hopefully next week it will be cooler temps & more comfortable on the ship!
