Questions for CET/CAS people

I got a postcard today from CET (Caesars) to go pick up a cruise certificate from them in November but I had to RSVP that I was showing up to the event. Last time they had one, you could go any time during the day and just pick up a certificate. (We never ended up using it because it was only good for 6 cruises that were within a month of the date of picking it up.)

My question is have any of you been to a similar event where you had to RSVP to get the certificate? Do they make you book on the spot when they do it this way?

Also, we have booked our past 2 cruises through CAS because they offered us comps or higher discounts than the CET Platinum that we would have got booking through CET so I haven't actually used a free cruise cert from them, I know you still pay taxes but can you upgrade if you use one (if you like a balcony and they give you a inside)?

Our April cruise was a similar offer from the since closed Revel.

Both me and my wife got certificates for a free cruise, which were inside rooms. There is a little fine print saying both certificates can't be combined if people who live in the same house, and can't be combined with other offers.

Don't have to book on the spot.

I called CAS about a month after we got the certificates and picked what cruise we wanted to do. We wanted a balcony room for us, and also wanted a 2nd room for my mom for her 60th bday. Flat out told them that i know the print says it can't be combined but was there anything they could do for us.

They did their thing on the back end...gave my mom an comped inside room (except for port fees and taxes) and upgraded us to a balcony room for $300 a person plus fees and taxes. So altogether it was quite a significant deal they gave us.

I don't know how much of that was the certificate. How much of that was our CAS host/comp pts, but they definitely worked with us and hooked us up. So i would suggest get the certificates and then give them a call and see what they can do for you.

I get the cruise certs every 3 months from Caesars Windsor. I have always called and reserved my voucher. Some of the people there have different offers for different ships so reserving may allow them to sort out who gets what. They are not generic. My last cert offer was completely different than the couple in front of me. The cruise I have booked for Feb on the Epic was for an inside room. I upgraded to aft balcony for 500.00 each. We sailed the Dawn last year and aft balcony was a 300.00 upgrade. The epic cruise is costing us around 1350.00, not free but about 700.00 savings. Hope this helps!

It does help since I am going through Caesars Windsor as well. Like I said, last time the cert only had 6 ships/dates on it and was very specific but I just had to go to the players club desk to get it. This time its a swipe and pick up in the ball room deal, but it said I had to RSVP to get it. I haven't had one in a while so I wasn't sure if this meant they book you on the spot or what. Thanks!

I also got a certificate from Harrahs in New Orleans. I had to book my cruise before 11/17/14 and travel before end of 3/15. I called the number and wanted to book on the Getaway on 2/21/15. For 2 persons in the inside is $612 total. Ov upgrade was $160 more. Balcony was $600 more. We took the BA midship balcony. Total cost was $1212. The cost for an BA midship balcony on this date for 2 is $3209. That's a big major ($1997) in savings. U also get a free drink card for u and guests to use in the casino/bar. That's another advantage.

You have 30 to 90 days to book ( I can't remember) and cruise within a year. My last one had 11 cruises/itineraries to choose from. All were 7 days. I haven't picked up the last two certs because we only have time to cruise once a year.

I will be at Windsor next month for REO Speedwagon concert so maybe I will try to tie in a cruise freebie pick up when I go!

The last few times I've received cruise offers from Caesars Windsor, I've had to RSVP, and then pick up the certificate (and a brochure) in the Promenade Ballroom on a specified date between certain hours. I always upgrade from inside to balcony, and the last couple of times it's been $300 to upgrade. The last certificate that I picked up on August 10th stated I had to reserve a cruise by October 10th and sail by August 10, 2015. The previous offer listed 13 cruises to choose from, this one lists 11.

We got a certificate from Harrah's in Atlantic City. There were certain ships and dates listed on my offer, but I did not want any of those cruises. I called CAS, and asked about the Breakaway, and after being put on hold for 10 minutes, I was told I can apply the certificate to the cruise I wanted. Bottom line: $300.00 each to upgrade to a balcony ( plus the port charges and taxes).

I thought it was a great deal.

I have gotten about 4/5 certificates from a few different casinos, taj in Atlantic city, Harrahs in AC and one from the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I only used the first one I received. Since then I have only had to call CAS direct instead of picking up certificates because through CAS I received a comp balcony as opposed to inside cabins from certificates. So better for me to go direct.

It really depends. I think as a relative newby to the program, you've been receiving quite a few offers. I also received a ton of offers after my first CAS cruise - tournaments, 11-day cruises to the southern Caribbean, etc. Now, after seven or eight CAS cruises, not so much. I have called CAS to see what kind of offer I would get without a CAS certificate, and the offer was the same as with a certificate. You state that you consider yourself not a very big player. Although I'm not VIP, I am Golden and usually travel solo, so I spend a lot of time and money in the casino.

My offers from Caesars would probably be better if I frequented Caesars Windsor in Canada (where I'm Diamond) rather than MGM in Detroit (where I'm Platinum). The problem is having to cross the border - often not an enjoyable experience.

I guess we will see after next months cruise. I'm waiting to book the getaway for next May until after this cruise to see what they offer me. My DH will be with me on this cruise whereas he was not on the last cruise with me so I'm figuring my offer will be as good if not better than this upcoming cruise. I am diamond at Harrahs and chairman at the taj (equivalent to diamond). I did spend a lot of time in the casino on my last cruise so much that I never even saw half the ship lol

Wow. I'm only Platinum at Caesars but I do agree crossing the border is a annoying lately. Even if you cross a few times a month they still hassle you about "why not just gamble in Detroit."

I have had events where you had to RSVP.

and some without RSVP

Some events where you also had to book a room.

And somewhere you did not need to book a room.

Some had only a few dates to pick from. Some had lots of dates to pick from.

In maybe a half dozen of these, none required you to book that day.

We always go to Windsor to pick up our certificates. Never have a problem going over there and we go weekly. Always use the tunnel. I believe the next pickup is November 16th. We always go to pick them up even if we don't use them. We have used two of them for our upcoming back to back.

Guess you've been lucky so far. The issue isn't crossing into Canada, it's crossing back into the U.S. I always use the tunnel, too.
