Where in Jamaica are you docking? I'm going to assume Falmouth but it could be Montego or Ocho as well. If Falmouth the port area has been recently redeveloped and is quite nice and very much secure. Think of it as a small outdoor shopping centre. There are restaurants, food carts, jewelry stores, clothing stores, gift shops etc. I see you've posted a lot so you know how helpful these other CC members can be. Let us know your concerns about Jamaica and others may be able to provide their experience to make you feel better about it. I have personally been three times and had a wonderful time every time. Been to Dunns River, YS Falls, Black River as well as doing a Catamaran tour. If you stay in the port area or decide to go and explore I'm sure you'll have a great time.

We will be in Jamaica in Feb. 2015 and would like to know if the cruise pier for the Oasis of the Seas is safe to walk around. We are concerned about taking any type of tour so we want to stay close to the ship. Is the pier safe, nice and is there shopping?

What's the concern about the tours? There are some awesome tours in Jamaica! One of the most fun islands for shore excursions! If you have concerns about getting back to the ship on time, take a ship sponsored excursion. So many fun things to do in Jamaica. The people, food, music and scenery are awesome.
