Sweetsforjay Posted October 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Check it out for anyone cruising in the next month or two who booked ES, there are significant rate drops on certain sailings. I lucked out and will wind up with $200 OBC as a single! Very limited time...confirmed with a carnival rep that ES price protection will be honored. You must fill out the price protection form online and they sent me am auto reply saying that due to large volume it may take up to 7 days. I took a screen shot of rates just in case :-). Good luck! I was told Early Saver cannot get the price drops without changing their booking...
Sweetsforjay Posted October 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Such a complicated question... I was originally ES under BFF's cabin, then thought better and got my own cabin (still ES) with cabin selected. Then found 72hr sale with a rate drop and got the drop but gave up my cabin. Then got a cabin assignment, now noticed the 12 hr sale. I am assuming I might be thrown back I to the pool and get reassigned but I am not too worried about it because the cabin they originally assigned me was better than the one we chose initially. For me it does not matter to let Carnival choose my room if it will give me $200 of OBC. Still waiting for confirmation. Nothing in the fine print to indicate it is not eligible for price protection. Herbaltees Posted October 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2014 I have been going back and forth in my mind about this all afternoon. If I give up my cabin, that is $268 worth of OBC! But, I fought tooth and nail to get the room I have and really don't want to give it up. However, with $268 I could Cheers! myself silly and my rooms location won't matter.:D Ugghhh I'm still unsure and have 7.5 hours to decide. Sweetsforjay Posted October 9, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted October 9, 2014 For me it is worth the credit to lose the room choice. Not planning on spending much awake time, especially as a single, in the cabin. And paying for cheers is my plan exactly! GTO-Girl Posted October 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2014 But for me my room selection is very important. We have another couple going with us and I am handling all travel plans. Right now we have rooms side by side on the Panorama deck that we specifically picked when we booked September of last year! My biggest fear is to call Carnival and get a not-so-great rep on the phone who tells me I can price match and then they dump me into a guarantee pool......I would freak out!!! So I guess I will send my Price Protection form in for the Senior sale I know I qualify for ($60pp) and forget the big $$$$'s I could save if I would give up my room.....:o I got a great price when we booked and so I am going to be happy with that. RELANE821 Posted October 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2014 We had booked ES for an inside cabin. I submitted the form and received an email saying we didn't qualify for the offer. I called and was told the price drop was rejected because there were no longer any inside cabins available. I checked online and sure enough our sailing no longer had inside cabins listed at the 12 hour sale rate. I called and told the rep I had submitted the form before cabins were no longer available and was told it didn't matter. I was able to move to an OV and still received $180 drop, although it was reiterated that it would be a guarantee room.
kona_wahine Posted October 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Guarantee rooms is how they get you. I wouldn't give up my room. We are first room port on the lido. It would have to be a heck of a price drop to get me out of that room.

flahagan Posted October 9, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 9, 2014 No help for me - have 2 cabins on the July 18 Breeze sailing and the price hasn't budged since I booked several months ago. Our fares seemed ridiculously high when I booked ES, but I guess that's the price you have to pay to sail in the summer. Bummer.
Richjoxyz Posted October 9, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2014 The price drop is nice, but we are B2B with the same room. Not willing to go into a Guaranty and have to move on turn around day. So far we have moved from an inside to an OV and picked up $175 OBC due to ES. Waiting to see what the next sale will be.

That's been the big question all afternoon. I was told Early Saver cannot get the price drops without changing their booking... i had a casino rate called carnival when I saw the sale. They just changed the amount and sent me a confirmation saved 200.00 per person off the balcony rate. 350.00 for a seven day cruise is a great rate. Took a five minute phone call. GottaLuvCruising Posted October 9, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 9, 2014 We rebooked three staterooms on our January cruise. Had to give up preferred staterooms, but saving more than $300pp (inside 4A to inside gty.)
BooneMonsoon Posted October 9, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 9, 2014 I applied for the price drop just now online. I haven't relieved a confirmation email. Should I call? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Sweetsforjay Posted October 9, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Very frustrated right now I have to say. BFF tried to get price drop and it was rejected and she called and they said that she had gone from and ES to a GTY with a previous promotion so therefore was not eligible for any other price drops. They told her that I however will probably get my price drop. Don't know why that is because we booked same rates and got price drops with the exact same promotion before (72 hr Sale) I am still waiting to hear back about my price protection form. This is my first time sailing with Carnival and I have to say that their inconsistent policies on rate adjustments are a big turnoff. That being said, even if I don't get the price drop that I am entitled to, I am still cruising for pennies compared to any other 5 day vacation I could take. Guess I will just have to wait and see! sotuffexecutive Posted October 10, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Submitted my form several hours ago and have not heard a word yet. Was booked in a guarantee to begin so hoping for good things. From comments I should have called I guess.....but was working and did not get the chance. momof3cruisers Posted October 10, 2014 #19 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I would save around $300 if I switched to guarantee, but I'm not sure about that idea. Are there ever obstructed view balconies? We're on Freedom.
marsh-angler Posted October 10, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I would have saved $577 if I would have switched my Lido inside cabin for guarantee. Instead I paid an additional total of $122.00 and upgraded to a balcony for an 8 day cruise.

There aren't many horrible spots for balconies either--at least there are less horrible balconies than interiors or OVs.
Sweetsforjay Posted October 10, 2014 Author #23 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Hmmmm....wondering why I have not heard anything yet. Ahh well if we get OBC great, regardless plan on having a nice get away. I have submitted 2 price protection forms over the last week (national cruise week and 12 hr sale). Only response I've gotten has been an automated reply basically stating due to volume of requests it could take up to 7 days. I'm not much worried about getting a lower rate either. This trip will still be a great value with or without the extra $50 OBC I do however wish that Carnival would be a little more consistent on their policies. Seems every issue I have read about will get a different set of answers depending on who you talk to. Still waiting...and packing in the meantime! 25 days to go! Herbaltees Posted October 10, 2014 #24 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I didn't go for it. My DH said No, he doesn't want to move. Especially since we went through a lot if changes to get our room. gremlinbangles Posted October 10, 2014 #25 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Funny thing...12 hour sale was suppose to end at midnight however I noticed this morning that on my cruise the low prices stayed the same so you may still be able to get the sale price on some cruises.
