hjmckellar Posted October 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Which of the above 2 resorts are best for beaches. NCL visit Magens Bay in St Thomas or Blue Lagoon Break in Nassau can anyone which is best .
blue_water Posted October 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2014 No comparison, St Thomas for the beach day. But do not take the ship excursion as you can just taxi to the beach of your choice and leave when you want. Note that Magens is the most touted beach and so gets the busiest. The East End beaches are even more gorgeous and offer snorkeling and nicer island views, at least from Sapphire. Beach descriptions from different folks - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1993432 And a map showing where the beaches are - http://www.virginislandsthisweek.com/st-thomas/maps/st-thomas-island-road-map.html You're docked at Havensight and the East End beaches are a 20 min, $10pp taxi away. OCruisers Posted October 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Agree! Beaches in St. Thomas and St. John are better by far. :D LuLu
2PinaColadas Posted October 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2014 St. Thomas beaches are beautiful. Nassau's are nice, but do not even compare.
chesapeake2atlantic Posted October 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2014 I agree totally! St Thomas for beaches, hands down! Okay, how about this: Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas or Trunk/Cinnamon Beach on St. John?

blue_water Posted October 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2014 Sapphire is our favorite STT or STJ beach and that saves about 1.5 hrs of travel time and another $28pp. But Trunk and Cinnamon are both beautiful and worth the effort.
chesapeake2atlantic Posted October 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 24, 2014 Okay, what are you looking for? Sorry for the delay. Overall beach-water beauty. Not snorkeling.
2PinaColadas Posted October 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Sorry for the delay. Overall beach-water beauty. Not snorkeling. Sapphire would be my choice for the day. The water is beautiful and the views can not be beat. Trunk and Cinnamon are also very pretty, but by the time you add in travel time and costs, it may not be worth it to you. Or, if you are wanting just a simple beach day with no crowds Lindqvist is an option. It is also very pretty, just no place to get food or drinks. (We took our own when we went.)They do have a lifeguard, which is good if you have kiddos with you. It is close to Sapphire.
blue_water Posted October 25, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Actually Lindqvist (Smith Bay Park) is being developed for visitors as reported in these forums. For a gorgeous, naturally shaded beach with beautiful sapphire-colored waters and nice island views I haven't seen a nicer beach on STT. Just has a character that draws us there for the same thing you're looking for. Food & drink and chair rentals are available so there will be others there, but Sapphire doesn't seem to get as crowded as other beaches. Having said that, Magens Bay looks gorgeous from the hilltops but doesn't have the beauty or the character of Sapphire, at least in our opinion. And it tends to get very crowded along the entire beach. But you really could go to any of the popular beaches and stare at the water.
