cruisintwinsmom Posted October 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I'm thinking about booking this hotel. We are going to be there Oct 17-19, 2014. Is it conveninent to shopping and restaurants? Is it easy to use public transportation if we want to go to Sawmill Mall? Thanks!

royalcruz Posted October 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) To get to Sawgrass Mills Mall, take the 11 from Las Olas Blvd to the 36 west on Sunrise Blvd. If you take the 11 west it will be a shorter/faster route, but you will then have to stand around in a high crime neighborhood waiting for the next bus. So I would take the 11 east (same side of rd as your hotel) to Sunrise Blvd; this way you'll be waiting in the safer beach area for the next bus. BlueHerons Posted October 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) The Riverside Hotel rooms just went under a massive renovation. They had about half their rooms off of inventory all summer to get this done by season. You'll be here for the Las Olas Art Fair. Las Olas Boulevard (the famous street the hotel is on) closes and is pedestrian only. Some of the best dining in Broward is on Las Olas. It will be a crowded weekend but fun!! http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/artfair/ Edited October 15, 2014 by BlueHerons
royalcruz Posted October 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2014 I'm not sure what the 11 bus does during the art fairs since the road is closed.
cruzmax Posted October 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2014 We have stayed at Renaissance downtown and Riverside at Las Olas - loved both. When we stayed at Riverside (before a cruise), we didn't leave the area. Restaurants, shopping, entertainment, all along the boulevard - a fun and festive area. And there was Einstein's Bagels a couple blocks away - love Einstein's! Google Riverside and Las Olas Blvd - in my opinion it has it all!
