That rule is no longer in effect. You can were white shoes and pants whenever you want to. Also, on a cruise every day is after Memorial day. Have fun.

These "rules" no longer apply. It is fashionable to wear white all year round. Have you ever heard of "winter white?" Enjoy your white pants, white shoes, white skirts and white anything else you want to wear any time at all.

Thanks Topcat. I know there are a few people out there who still go by the "white" rules, but I just wanted to double check. I've always thought white rules were silly anyway, but that's just me. I have a pair of white shoes and white pants I am DYING to wear (to work - not just for my cruise). Thanks again.

I'm 47 and I remember when that "rule" used to be applicable. These days, I don't think anyone abides by it, if it's even still there. Yes, white works year-round, especiualy in the Carrib. I do admit I refrain from wearing my very white shoes in the winter here in Memphis. Old habits die hard. But when I'm cruzin' that's another story...

The only white shoes I will wear are sandals. I don't know why, but I think that white pumps are just plain tacky. The reason I feel this way is because most people who wear the white shoes do not take care of them and they are dirty and scuffed up. My SIL wears white pumps with suntan panty hose. Drives me nuts!
