help...is this ok for formal night?

This is a dress I picked out for my formal night. I am going on a 3 night cruise at the end of this month on Sovereign of the Seas. Do you all think this is too formal or will it be ok?? I am not sure if shorter cruises are less formal than longer ones. I really like the dress, it looks so cute on but i do not want to stick out like a sore thumb. I would love any suggestions. Also black shoes? or white?

I think it's perfect. I'm going on the Navigator (7 days) in June, and I'm wearing a strapless black dress with white floral embroidery. It seems like black and white is really popular lately!!

perfect beautiful dress and definately black shoes - dont know what it is but I absolutely hate white shoes - reminds me of Bon Jovi girls from the 80's...Ahhh the Jersey shore hairspray, acid washed jeans(and jean jackets with patches), stretch mini skirts and white shoes..some of the best moments of the late 80's [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Ok I was young then but I still liked BJ and the NJ shore (I was there when they filmed Bad Medicine) ...Although lately there are a few high thong and strapy white sandals Ive seen that I thought were cute. For a 3 night cruise, you may be a bit more formally dressed than others.....but not inappropriately so.

My vote would be to wear it, it's gorgeous. Just keep the jewelry and hair very simple, so it's not over the top.

I'm not a fan of white shoes, however, if it's a very strappy sandal, it would be fine. But black or white would work well.

To be "grounded" your shoes should be the same color or darker than your outfit. Since your dress is black on top, white shoes won't work well w/ the dress, which is lovely.

i think the dress is gorgeous, I on the other hand like to be flashy and feel like a Princess. So I would dress the "dress" up with black shoes with some kind of rhinestone and to tap it all off put my hair up and wear a simple and elegant pair of diamond studs....good luck and have fun no matter what you wear.

I am just off the Sovereign and there are a wide range of dress for formal night. And I say yes...wear it. I had a floor length red dress on and did not feel like I was over dressed in the least.
And as far a shoes...but black strappy sandals. Would look great w/your dress.
