JRae Posted August 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2005 YOu take the I45 straight to Galveston, its about30-45 minutes, don't try to do it at rush hour. Otherwise it's a nice easy drive and enjoy your trip!!!!!
DesertDaisy Posted August 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2005 We did the cruise on the Grand last March. We flew in form Phoenix, easy flight straight through. Thought about making our own connections but were unfamiliar with the airport. We did Princess transfers, I'm sorry don't remember the cost. We were happy, they met us and the Princess bus was fine. We didn't have any extra time, flew in the same day. Even on the bus the previous poster is correct, about 45minutes form Hobbie. Phyllis
DonLou Posted August 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2005 We took Galveston Limousine from Bush Intercontinental (IAH). It is a shared van that also stops at Hobby. It cost us $60 per person round trip from IAH to any location in Galveston. I believe it's $55 per person round trip from Hobby. The van comes by every couple of hours or so. cherylandtk Posted August 19, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2005 And the Princess bus costs $30 pp each way from either Houston airport (HOU and IAH).
bjkTX Posted August 19, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2005 Valbob - we're doing the 25 Feb cruise and we're driving up from San Antonio - we can swing by and pick you up if you're on the same cruise :-)
cruznliz Posted August 19, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2005 DD and I came in a day early and rented an Enterprise rent a car for under $20 and were able to drop it off in Galveston for no extra charge. They had a shuttle to the ship. Check with Enterprise to see if they still do it. It is a very easy drive from Hobby to Galveston and the Enterprise office is right off the freeway. Did the same thing at the end of the cruise and Enterprise met us at the port with the car. Saved us a bundle of $$$. ;)

calliecat Posted August 20, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2005 We also rented a car from Enterprise. Their rates are very reasonable considering that we did not return the car in Houston We were staying at Harbor House on the Pier so when it was time to take the car back (it was several miles away) they drove us back to the hotel. Absolutely no problems what-so-ever.
