Latest Disembarkation question

Doing self disembarkation, what is the latest you can usually leave the ship, and is it a mistake (crowd wise) to try to wait until last to disembark? I guess what I'm looking to do is hang out and chill in one of the MDR's, the Horizon Court or the International Café until the herd thins. We will be driving from the San Pedro port and the thought of jumping into LA traffic between 8:00-10:00am gives me nightmares.

Did you see this thread - seems to have some related information if you read through all the responses:

If you're doing self-disembarkation, you'll be assigned an early time, usually before 8am. You can stay later but usually, most of the ship is empty by 9:30am with the last passengers shortly after.

If you're dragging your luggage while others just have carry-ons, make sure you don't hold them up. If staying later is that important, chose regular disembarkation and ask for a later time. At most, it'll take you 1-2 minutes to get your luggage and be on your way, and not have to schlep it on the ship and down the escalator.
