I know how busy they are. We just got off the ship on Oct 25th and he told us

he would put us at the same table on our Nov 7 cruise. When we got home my niece said she and her husband had just booked the cruise to be with us.

So I just wanted to give him time to arrange to have them join us.

I sent the email and we will find out when we board.

thanks for all the help

Dot

Don't expect for the Maitre'd to reply to your email. Answering customers e-mail's isn't part of their normal job and I see a lot of people upset that they don't get a reply.

Never not gotten a reply. Have you not had success?

I have seen several people here complaining that they never got a response from the maitre'd when they email them, so i was just preparing them for that scenario.

So you haven't personally had an issue?

Then "they" must have an incorrect address. I've been emailing ships since at least 2001, and have never been disappointed.

Never received a response for our request but it was granted once we got on the ship and found our table assignment. After the cruise I wrote an email complimenting him on his outstanding staff and mentioned names. He did respond to that email and said he would pass along the compliments.

I found it depends on the ship. So times I get an answer other no answer when we check in the table assignment I request is on my card. Make your request, check your sign and sail card, and if needed talk to them after you board but before you sail. They are usually setup at one of the main dining rooms for seating questions. Nancy

I'm sorry but I just have to....

It's Maitre d' derived from Maître d'hôtel which means master of the hotel in French.

Their job is to manage the front of the house in a formal restaurant/dining venue like the MDR.

They're responsible for the overall dining experience.

Thanks for that info; I have always wanted to know the correct spelling.

My spell checker did not know either

It is nice to know the meaning of words
