rochelle_s Posted October 29, 2014 #29 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Just an FYI for those that use their bra as a cell phone holder. There is some evidence that carrying your phone in your bra increases your chance of breast cancer; http://ehtrust.org/keep-that-cell-phone-out-of-your-bra/ Even if you are unsure with the current information why take the chance?? garycarla Posted October 29, 2014 #34 Share Posted October 29, 2014 If I had OBC concerns, I would wait until the next day. Actually, I have heard them tell people to come back after 1-2 days as they sometimes do not get posted until after the ship leaves. If I wanted stamps, I would bring them from home - no place to mail at sea anyways. As to seasickness pills, I would never, ever travel without them. They are a few bucks (generic) at Walgreens. Taking a chance that they are out of them and ruin a cruise - no way. Please excuse my writing if it comes across a bit of a smartie. But, standing in line on the first day, or last day is not my idea of a vacation. I do stop by for a printout 2 days before we return. No line then. Just me sometimes. SJ Posted October 30, 2014 #36 Share Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) I still haven't got the mattress topper whenever I requested from my steward. Sometimes it seems he doesn't understand or I didn't find him in time. I would like to request one since our daughter shares our bed and prefer not to have one of us over the crack. I usually don't want to trouble the steward especially on the first day but I figured it's not too much trouble for him since I am saving him from making an extra bed everyday. So will guest services take requests on embarkation day? Stewards are usually busy taking care of the luggage then and they might be out of them by the time I speak with him. jame_g Posted October 30, 2014 #37 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Seriously? We've gone to guest services the first day only when there was something significant that needed to be done right away. Once when key cards didn't work, and twice when travelling with others and we needed to re-arrange who was in what room (something that is not worth the trouble in my opinion, especially on RCCL, and I won't let family involve us in again). And once when we were notified after boarding and leaving port that the credit card was declined because the credit card company decided it was suspicious activity, and Norwegian let us contact the credit card company at sea without charging for the call. If there are issues with something in the stateroom, discuss it when you meet your cabin steward. But ideally, I avoid going to guest services the first day, the last evening, and disembarkation morning, and look for quiet times if I do need something. Is that the only time you can request that the $12 per day discretionary service charge be adjusted? Do they hand you a form to complete?

You can drop the postcards into the ship's mailbox, and they will send them for you once you arrive at port. If I had known that I would have needed stamps, I would have brought them as well, but you can't foresee everything. That's why I went to the desk.
