Kids Club schedules/Dining

Hoping someone can help us out with this. We are travelling on the Constellation on 24/1/15 with our two children, a shipmate and a cadet. Us, the parents, were hoping to have a dinner without our delightful children in a specialty restaurant one evening. We've experienced on some other cruise lines an organized kids dinner with their peers. Well aware that specialty restaurants can book up quickly, we were hoping that Celebrity offered this kids dinner as well, and, hoped to reserve a specialty dinner to coincide. Two different agents had no answers for us at Celebrity. Please help if you can.

With the exception of the first night, the Fun Factory staff is happy to take your children to dinner. This occurs between 5-7. There is a charge for this service. I believe it is $6 per hour, per kid. The will take the kids to the buffet for dinner. Once dinner is over, they will head back to the Fun Factory. From 7-10, the Fun Factory is free and there is no additional charge. So you will have ample opportunity to have a leisurely dinner. Your children will love it. All you need to do is let the Fun Factory staff in the morning that your children will be attending dinner with them. We did this twice on our last cruise and it was well worth the nominal cost.

We can confirm that as recently as March this year, the extra cost between 5-7pm was $6 per hour per child. The same for after 10pm (charged in 15 minute increments)

Also note that in our experience, the Kids Club does not charge this fee between 5-7pm on formal nights and they have a more organized 'dinner party' of some kind e.g. pirate party.

We have always found the Kids Club staff to be very professional and accommodating. We have never known them to say 'no' to any reasonable request made by the kids or parents.

We always have late dining. Once or twice per cruise, we take the kids to the buffet ourselves, have a sushi appetizer while they have dinner, then drop them off at 7:00. Then we have time to dress for dinner, stop at the Martini Bar and then head to dinner ourselves. We finish dinner by 10:00, just in time to pick them up before the babysitting fees start.

Our kids are not big kids club fans. Last time, my son, 8, spent two evenings there but never asked to go at all any other time. My daughter, 11, went for scavenger hunts, but did not enjoy just hanging out there. This has been the case for our last three cruises. They prefer to go to dinner and the evening shows with us. I mention this because many say how you'll never see your kids, but depending on your kids, this may not be the case.

I agree, it depends very much on the kids. My son never wanted to go to the kids club. He is more of a quiet type and preferred hanging out with us. Also, depending when you cruise, there may or may not be a decent sized group of other children to play with. On my last Celebrity cruise I think there were fewer than 20 children (and yes, it was a seven nighter, although usually those lengths have more). It helps I suppose to have more than one kid as they might enjoy each others company (ok, maybe only if they get desperate:)).

Yes, definitely depends on the family. Part of the cruising experience us for us dressing up and having dinner together. We also attend the shows together (we treat almost every night as formal night) . Our kids do a morning stint in the kids club (after breakfast)- then we go swimming, change for lunch, then back tot he kid's club for the afternoon (DH and I usually are in the casino), then we pick them up around 4, and they will go back after the show when DH and I are back in the casino. It works for us. When we sail as a family, we enjoy all our meals together. Works for us.

The free evening in the kids club starts at 7. My husband took our son to the buffet beforehand while I finished getting ready. We had a wonderful dinner in Qsine for about 2.5 hours. We had a reservation at 7. We told them we might be a few minutes late since we were dropping him off at 7, and they had no problem.

This was on the Summit but I'm sure it's the same for all ships.
