JsEscape2 Posted November 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Has anyone arranged for a tour of Curacao with a driver when just walking off the ship. We would like a cultural/historical tour for half day or less with a guide who is knowledgeable. Most of the tours seems to be beach tours. I see you may be able to bargain, but would not know where to start. Would we need to get off of the ship early to find someone? Any advice would be appreciated. JsEscape2 Posted November 8, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Yes, you can. Starting at $20/25 p.p. for two hour tours or $50 p.h. for up to 4 in a cap. A good tour is at least 4 hours. Super! thanks for the price range. Are most guides reputable? Any advice on how to choose?

cruiseapril Posted November 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Would suggest reading about Curacao and deciding what you want to see, as there is so much to see and do just in Willemstad.

Reading about Curacao would be great. Actually UTUBE has a couple of videos that aren't too bad. One is about things locals recommend and another is about how people in Curacao are restoring some of the old buildings. Looking forward to experts or locals responding to this thread. back-at-it Posted December 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2014 We found a small three wheeled taxi for $20 per person that took us to the bridge. Then he walked across and handed us off to another person that took us all around the inner city. It was a nice time. then we walked back to the ship past the markets. sail7seas Posted December 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2014 Every time we have been to Curacao, there were always taxis/drivers at the dock looking for people who wanted a tour. Use your usual common sense and speak with a few before deciding whether to go with them. We've never had a hint of a problem in Curacao and have always felt very safe there. We just returned from Curacao. We walked up to a tour booth at the pier and asked what was available. We took an area tour for $20 pp. It gave us a great overview and offered a chance to stop at the beach on the way back. It worked really well for us! LAKECLIFF Posted January 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Do you recall the name of the tour company? Would you use them again? Would also love to hear the names of good tour companies, especially for small groups. Thanks!
JsEscape2 Posted January 22, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted January 22, 2015 We did the "get off the ship and find a tour". There were several places where people were offering tours of the island. They just rounded up eight of us, a family of 4 and 2 couples and we went around in a van that had a taxi sign on it. The charge was $20 per person. Our driver gave us some history, took us to some of the main attractions, then dropped us off at a beach. It cost $2.50 to get on to the beach and an additional charge for lounge chairs. We took another taxi back to the ship. The taxi back to the ship was $5 per person or $20 for the 4 of us. It was fine for the first time there, but next time I will look into a more in depth tour and arrange things ahead of time.

KBSUE Posted April 2, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 2, 2015 Found a good tour on our recent visit. After we crossed on ferry (the pontoon bridge was under repair) we located Casper Tours. An open air bus with a great guide. We saw floating market, nice homes as well as not so nice area, saw the beach and could stay if wanted. It was about 2 1/2 hrs and very reasonable. Beautiful buildings and nice people.
