Nieuw Amsterdam Entertainment

We will be on the NA in December; our second cruise on this beautiful ship this year. On our first voyage in January, the evening entertainment featured performances by Cantare and one of the other shows was called the "Garage Band". Both were excellent.

 

Does anyone know if these shows are still in the line up or have they changed? While we loved both, something new is always fun to experience. Thanks much for any responses.

We got off the NA this morning. The current group of entertainers boarded in Barcelona on 27 October, and they'll be on board until the ship goes into dry dock. They performed Cantare and Garage Band, and I expect they'll do so until the dry dock.

 

We had a Q & A session with the entertainers and heard about the changes that will be made during dry dock to the stage area. They'll be changing all the sets, which may bring a batch of new shows with it. They are also changing all the lighting to LEDs, installing a better LED screen at the back of the stage, and removing the orchestra pit.

I just completed 13 days on the NA, disembarking this morning. Cantare is still in the line up. The other two cast shows were "NYC" and something about famous duos in which only two of the singers and two of the dancers performed. The cruise was fantastic and crew amazing, however we definitely feel that the entertainment was the weakest part of this cruise. As a matter of fact, there was a crew talent show on the mainstage and the dishwasher was far more talented than the current lead male singer of the NA.

 

We noticed a definite improvement in the entertainment department about 18 months ago, this was the first cruise since that time that the entertainment has been a disappointment. We were told that HAL is changing entertainment companies in five months. Hopefully the new company will freshen things up a bit.

When is she suppose to go into dry dock and when did Eurodam got her dry dock?

We were on Nieuw Amsterdam for 24 days back in June-July this year. The blues band at BB KINGS were absolutely amazing. Don't miss the band if they play in the main showroom,it was brilliant.

We were told the NA is going into dry dock in April 2015.
