I cannot understand anyone who travels in this day and age not having a passport. Yes, it is expensive to cough up the cost for a whole family, but so is a cruise or a trip anywhere for a whole family. The cost just has to be factored in. Eventually your kids get old enough to renew their own.;)

Just an FYI to anyone interested, In the USA - kids passports are not renewable (per se). Anyone under 18 issued a passport must apply for a new passport every 5 years. A distinction, obviously, because you must Apply in person each time (and pay the full amount) vs renewing by mail with a reduced fee.

Actually, 16 and up gets the adult passport (good for 10 years). Renewals cost the same as the original ($110). The difference in price is the $25.00 processing fee, which isn't charged for renewals.

But the cost of the child passport (good for 5 years) remains the same ($80 + $25 processing fee) everytime.
