ca2ga2000 Posted June 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2004 HELP PLEASE!!! We are going on the Caribbean Princess in 3 weeks, and I have been somewhat stressing about our wardrobes. DH and I both have "nice" clothes, but we've never cruised before, so I've been frantic about finding the "perfect" outfits! I have two short cocktail dresses, one black and one red. Both are sleeveless, but classy. Is red weird for the Caribbean, or is it OK because it's formal evening wear? As far as the men, my husband has one black suit. He plans to wear it both formal nights, with 2 different dress shirts/ties, of course. My question is for the "smart casual" nights.... my husband plans to bring khakis with short sleeved polos and (nice) hawaiian shirts. He also has a neutral-colored silk sportcoat. Is this typical attire? Thanks a million from another first-timer! 7/10 Caribbean Princess ----------------------------- Caribbean Princess (Western Caribbean) - 7/10/04 Diamond Princess (Mexican Riviera) - 4/9/
Scarlett Fever Posted June 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2004 I think you will be fine for the formal and informal nights. I love red and think it's very classic and makes for a great cocktail dress color. ca2ga2000 Posted June 18, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Thanks everyone! DH has never seen me in red before, so when I tried on the red dress, he thought it looked "Christmassy." Well, you know how us girls can get - suddenly I'm paranoid! Thanks again! Can't wait to wear it now! 7/10/04 Caribbean Princess - Western Caribbean 4/9/05 Diamond Princess - Mexican Riviera ----------------------------- Caribbean Princess (Western Caribbean) - 7/10/04 Diamond Princess (Mexican Riviera) - 4/9/
wantacruise Posted June 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I wore a red cocktail dress on my first cruise and it was also in the summer. Nothing Christmasy about it. It will be fine!!! cruisead Posted June 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Unless you pair the dress with a Santa hat and jingle bell earrings, you won't look Christmasy at all. I have a long red dress that I wear all year long. Don't worry, you're going to look fantastic. Tracie
sandytoesrose Posted June 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2004 There is nothing wrong with a red dress. On my last cruise there was an attractive blond in a floor length red gown - everyone noticed her - she looked stunning. The talk at our table was, "did you see that red dress?".
