Another logistics question for those familiar with NOLA

Hello again...My group was considering an organized tour of the area plantations and Bayou airboat ride. We decided that we could probably rent a vehicle and go to 2-3 plantations fairly in expensively (there are 6 of us to share the cost). It's the airboat ride that I am struggling with. Are we able to just book this excursion without belonging to a tour? Where are the airboat tickets purchased? Are there ever night time bayou tours? Thanks

There are some nice plantation homes 30min outside of NOLA. Destrehan Plantation, Oak Alley, Laura Plantation are the ones we have visited. You do not have to book tours in advance, look for discount coupons or ask for a discount when you arrive. As for air boat tours they are available from companies like Jean Lafitte Swamp and Airboat Tours (expensive at $54pp) or Airboat Adventures. You do not have to be with a tour group, you can call any of them companies and they will be able to help you. Some offer transportation from NOLA to their location for an extra cost.
