bar1068 Posted January 2, 2015 #151 Share Posted January 2, 2015 I'm floored to hear that there are no chicken tenders on ships with Guy's. Seriously, what will I feed my children!!! (insert sarcasm) But still, we really liked the tenders. Are they seriously no where to be found?? We are sailing the Sunshine in February. Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app Well, I managed to find plenty of chicken tenders the 2 times we were on the Sunshine and twice on Breeze as well, as both ships have Guys...tenders were back on the Lido/Markeplace buffet, you do have to walk all the way back there get them though..... cruzin Phillis Posted February 6, 2015 #155 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Actually quite to opposite. I fly into port from Cleveland. And I always arrive the day before. I just sleep in, stay at the hotel to checkout (normally 11AM, but I usually talk them into longer), grab a shuttle/cab to the port, and by then, the Platinum/FTTF people are on and general boarding is well underway. The key is to ignore that "1:30PM" email Carnival sends out. Hit the sweet spot before that time but after early boarding is done. Juggling luggage has never been an issue for me. I just keep a small day bag with me (the same I use in port) and check everything else. This isn't the airlines. Checked bags, aside from a pip to the porters, cost nothing. A tip to the porters is way cheaper than FTTF. If you think it's worth it, more power to you. But the people here act like it's the only way to enjoy a cruise. It's not. Kind of like the comments above on balconies. It's nice and all, just overrated. I enjoy cruising just fine without it. I agree with your regarding the balconies. Crazy just to cruise for a room. I do purchase early option because of my son.
cruzin Phillis Posted February 6, 2015 #156 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Over rated: Serenity area. On the Liberty and Freedom - too far forward, windy and can hear the blaring from the big screen. Under rated: Promenade. Again on the Liberty and Freedom - awesome views of the ocean and not many people out on them. Much more serene IMO. Might change my opinion on my upcoming Pride cruise though. It doesn't have chairs on the Promenade and Serenity is aft. I agree with the serenity areas. Some ships do not enforce the no kids rule which defeats the purpose of Adults only!
Rare richstowe Posted February 6, 2015 #157 Share Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Interesting how we all have a different take on +'s and -'s . My -'s include the big production shows which are truly mediocre . High school quality. A real undermentioned horror is the TSA nightmare getting off the ship . Last 2 cruises the line-up was more then an hour . The reason I mention it is that everyone talks about the horror of getting on the ship but the last few cruises embarkation was almost a pleasure. It was debarkation (including misplaced luggage) which was terrible ! As for +'s , undermentioned is the consistently high level of care provided by the hard working staff. I know most agree with this but its only when I board for another cruise that this is brought home. These people are almost always wonderful ! Finally what is underrated is value for money . The cost of a cruise is usually the same cost as the flight to get there . Perhaps that makes the flight costs the most overrated .;) Reading over my list I realize that these points are not Carnival specific. Warm Breezes Posted February 6, 2015 #160 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Personally, I disagree. While you and others are standing in line, I've already unpacked and am sitting with a cocktail on the deck. While you and others are standing in line for tender tickets, I am already on shore enjoying the port. While you and others are sitting in a room waiting to stand in a line to collect your luggage and go through customs, I am already off the ship, checked into my hotel and enjoying part 2 of my vacation... My time is worth the $50. We are the opposite of you. We have no problem waiting to board. It is usually less than a half an hour from the time we get there until the time we are walking on. We never wait in line for tender tickets. We take our time enjoying the ship and when the rush is done we walk right off. Sometimes we just stay right on the ship and avoid the tender all together. As for debarkation we spend the time waiting to get off on the Promenade deck playing cards. We wait until last call and by the time we get out our luggage is easy to spot because most of it is gone along with most of the line to get out. We just aren't in a rush. We'd rather just relax and let everyone else wait in line and get crabby :D. For us the $50 isn't worth it. We are enjoying our time doing something else. To each his own. rs12065 Posted March 3, 2015 #175 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Just got off of the Conquest. First thing I did was get a burger at Guys Burgers. I had heard so much about them, and I love burgers and fries. If you are a fan of grease and salt, a Guys Burger is right up your alley. And the fries were mushy, not crisp as they should be. I ate half of the burger before tossing it and went and got fish and chips. Guys Burgers=Over rated and just plain bad.
