AlaskaFan05 Posted August 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Has anyone done the duck tours in Ketchikan? If so what did you think? We have done the ones here in New England in the Boston area and those are fun so we are hoping that this one will be fun as well. Please share your experiences if you have done this. Thanks:)

sbrady88 Posted August 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2005 I went on it on 7/30 and it was a good excursion. Nice tour of the ketchikan and a harbor and across the channel to an eagle nest. I thought it was definitely worth the price.
CruisingChick Posted August 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2005 I've done both the Boston Duck Tour on the Charles River and the Ketchikan Duck Tour. While I liked the Boston one much better, the Ketchikan one was fun and its a nice little tour of the area. Anne Maria
flashdog_1 Posted August 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2005 We went on the duck tour on July 27th, and even though the day was very cloudy, and visibility on the water was iffy, we had fun and saw a lot. There were blankets on each seat, and we did use them toward the end of the sea part. The guide was Tlingit so gave us lots of information we had not heard before about "natives." The main points of interest were pointed out as we toured downtown. The harbor tour had to do with the different types of boats that are used in the salmon industry. You may purchase duck whistles (it's not a whistle, but a duck's quack that comes out when you blow into it like you would into a whistle) 2/$5 at the beginning of the trip. We all blew them at appropriate times, and some inappropriate times. Fun souvenir to give to a child after the cruise. During the tour a "homeless" man who had a wolf/Husky mix dog came out in a boat to show off his dog. Everyone took pictures, and the guide said he often does that. She said he and his wife live with their dogs (a la John Steinbeck in Cannery Row) under a lean to and she has no idea how they keep warm.
Midwest gal Posted August 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2005 We had the same native guide in July and I felt her information was very good. We thought it was a nice tour with lots of information and for $35, not too bad.
rfholcom Posted August 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2005 We also went on the Duck Tour. It was alot of fun and a great way to see the main places. We got to see Mom and Dad eagle as well as the eagle nest. We also went to the Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan. Just a fun day all around.
