2015 QE World Cruise/segments question

We have been hoping to book the QE 2015 World Cruise for months. Because of the early January due date of our first grandchild (yeah!), we didn't want to finalize a reservation until we had a better feel for the likely arrival date, so that we could visit before depating for months. We knew we would miss out on the benefits and surety of early booking and accepted that all along. Now, however, we find that heavy marketing of the Asian segments leaves an 8 day gap in a full San Francisco to Southampton voyage. Availability of those segments literally changes every day, which leads to my question: does Cunard allocate (hold back) a number of cabins for each segment until near the end to facilitate their marketing efforts? If so, should I hold hope that sometime in the next few weeks Cunard will decide to bundle the remaining staterooms and offer a long voyage to those waiting? (With several visas to obtain, world voyagers obviously can't wait until January...) Any insights or first hand experience would be very much appreciated!

I suggest that you call Cunard rather than speculating about what they do or don't do.

Oh, but I do...almost every day for weeks! I closely follow where we stand on the waiting list. But my question always makes the Cunard reps hesitate; over the last few weeks, several of them have finally just said cabins are allocated to separate segments...very frustrating!
