carolynp51 Posted December 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2014 I booked a cruise through a cruise agency online and noticed that the price has dropped $1100 for my cabin. Do I have any chance of getting some extra perks if I have already paid for the entire cruise?
JanineM Posted December 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2014 It depends on the cruise line. You should probably post this on the board for the specific cruise line you are sailing on. We sail on Celebrity and have never been able to take advantage of a price drop - but we have upgraded to a better cabin for little extra $ ($9 once). Rare mizLORInj Posted December 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2014 Call or email the TA and find out what the cruiseline will offer you since there's been a significant drop. They dont have to offer anything, but sometimes will upgrade you to a higher category cabin. Check online what cabins are currently the price you paid and have one in mind in case that category is offered. Ask! Worst they can say is "sorry, no!" fortinweb Posted December 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) It depends on the cruise line. You should probably post this on the board for the specific cruise line you are sailing on. We sail on Celebrity and have never been able to take advantage of a price drop - but we have upgraded to a better cabin for little extra $ ($9 once). If your booking is directly with Celebrity or you have a respectable TA, all you have to do is ask and you will get the lower fare, but only if it's before final payment and you haven't paid for it yet. I have never had a problem taking advantage of fares that have dropped. We typically book over a year in advance and the last cruise the price went down three times. All three times I was given the lower rate after I asked. And no charge for that privilege, either. After final payment - typically about 70 days before sail date - no price drops will be honored. But, as JanineM has written, you may be able to upgrade to a higher category stateroom if it's price is higher than the rate you paid on your current stateroom and one is available. In that case, you pay the difference up to the higher rate. Edited December 4, 2014 by fortinweb
