paic Posted December 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2014 We bought the wine package on our last cruise. It's called Cruise the Vineyards and they have a few different packages. You can purchase it when you board the ship at the atrium bar.
robear14 Posted December 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2014 We purchased the wine package at the first dinner. Yes, it is kinda pricey, but the convenience is really worth it. Plus they'll have your bottles waiting for you before you get to the table. :)
2Mommy Posted December 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Planning ahead for a 7 day cure over Christmas. Hubby doesn't "partake” to I'm the only one drinking alcohol. With the new Cheers rates ($49.95pp/day + 15%= over $800 for a couple sharing a room) the Cheers package doesn't seem worth it. Thinking about doing the Cruise the Vineyards instead. I remember there were 3 different tiers. What was the mid level rate for the 7 day cruise? I think that included 5 bottles of wine. Any other thoughts? Suggestions? Qchell Posted December 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) Here is a link to a page with the wine package options. States it was updated in August 2014. Well - never mind - do a Google search for Carnival Wine Package and it should pop up. :) Edited December 11, 2014 by Qchell
swodog94 Posted December 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I'm glad this is still an option. RCI is discontinuing their wine packages, forcing their cruisers to buy their version of a "Cheers" package if you want drinks with dinner. You can still buy wine by the bottle each night, but at an inflated price (which is really too bad since most of the wine choices are overpriced as it is - $30 onbd for a bottle you buy for $10 out in town. :-(
nissach Posted December 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2014 The prices for the wine packages are ridiculous. I know the ship has to make a profit, but the prices are so over inflated. No wonder people sneak liquor on board!
2Mommy Posted December 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Does anyone know if it cheaper to order through the fun shops before boarding?
tobancruiser Posted December 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Found this info...hope it helps... Carnival Cruise Lines Wine Packages "Cruise The Vineyards Program" By using this program you can save up to 25% off the individual bottle prices onboard. If you order by calling Carnival Bon Voyage / The Fun Shops , purchase onboard through the gift shop, or purchase onboard through your waiter in the Main Dining Room you will be charged a 15% gratuity charge (in ALL cases). Prices represented below already include this charge. Any way you order you will not have to select the actual wines in your package till you are ready to drink each one. How the program works: When ordering you select your wine package size and type: 3 or 5 & Basic, Deluxe, or Premium. You then will receive wine coupons. If you purchase by calling Bon Voyage your coupons will be left in your cabin. If you purchase through the gift shop or Main Dining Room your coupons will be given to you at that time. The number of coupons you receive depends on the package size you select (ex. 5 wine package = 5 coupons). You don't actually select the specific wines until you are ready to drink them. You can use your wine coupons at any onboard bar which serves wine or in the Main Dining Room. Once you have given the bartender or waiter your wine coupon and wine choice, the bottle is then brought to you. If you order in the Main Dining Room and do not finish the bottle you will have 3 options: you can either take the bottle with you, have it delivered to your room or they will re-cork it and save it for your next visit to the Main Dining Room. All prices below include the 15% gratuity charged at the time of package purchase. 3 Wine Package Pricing: Basic $77, Deluxe $97, Premium $114 (available on cruises 5 days or shorter) 5 Wine Package Pricing: Basic $131, Deluxe $153, Premium $193 (available on cruises 5 days or longer) Basic Wine Package Selections Barefoot Bubbly, Brut Cuvee Copper Ridge, White Zinfandel Zonin, Pinot Grigio Clifford Bay, Sauvignon Blanc Barefoot, Chardonnay Barefoot, Pinot Noir Bogle, Merlot Twisted, Zinfandel Black Swan, Shiraz Smoking Loon, Cabernet Sauvignon Deluxe Wine Package Selections Zonin, Prosecco Castello Del Poggio, Moscato Oyster Bay, Sauvignon Blanc Schmitt Sohne, Riesling Spatlese Kendall Jackson, Vintner's Reserve, Chardonnay Murphy Goode, Merlot Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo, Cabernet Sauvignon Bodega Santa Elena, Malbec Domaine Darons de Rothschild Lafite, Bordeaux Premium Wine Package Selections Paul Louis, Blanc de Blanc Ecco Domain, Pinot Grigio Ferrari-Carano, Fume Blanc Pouilly-Fuisse, Burgundy Frei Brothers, Chardonnay Kendall-Jackson, Vintner's Reserve, Pinot Noir Kendall- Jackson, Vintner's Reserve, Merlot Hess Select, Cabernet Sauvignon Melini, Classic Riserva, Chianti Yangarra, Shiraz Information Updates: The cruising industry is ever changing along with most of the information associated with it. 10Jan54 Posted December 22, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2014 If you are not a really big drinker you can carry on 2 bottles of wine with no charges as long as you open them in your cabin. You can take your glass with you and no questions asked.
