Wayfairers Posted December 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2014 We will be docked in Naples 8a-7p. This is our 2nd stop at Naples, last time we did a private tour to Herculaneum, Almafi, Almafi coast and Positano. Loved it but want to do something different this time. Someone suggested we go to Capri and do both a boat tour and a land tour. Has anyone done that? Any suggestions or tips?
euro cruiser Posted December 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Capri is one of the easiest shore excursions to accomplish on your own. From the cruise port you simply walk to the next pier, called Molo Beverello, where you get a high speed boat out to Capri. As you approach Molo Beverello you'll see an electronic board listing the next boats departing and which company to purchase a ticket from. You can see a picture of the board here: http://www.ischiainpillole.it/images/molo_beverello.jpg Close up of the board here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/Tabellone_orari_del_Molo_Beverello.jpg More information on what to see and do on Capri here: http://www.capri.net

Kinofdc Posted December 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) In October 2013, Rachel and I, following Euro Cruiser's suggestions, devised the following plan of visiting Capri from Naples during the day. It worked just about flawlessly when we implemented this plan in reality 2 weeks later. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1924130&highlight=capri Edited December 27, 2014 by Kinofdc
ljones Posted December 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Kinofdc - Could you provide an estimate of your cost for the day in Capri (minus any personal purchases). Thanks much.
lovestx Posted January 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2015 We loved our visit to Capri in June 2014 and hope to visit there by land some day to do it justice. I kept notes on what we spent so hope this is helpful. Although there were four of us, I will note the per person cost below. It was our most expensive day on a 12 cruise but totally worth it. In retrospect, I would have gotten off the ship earlier as the line for the ferry tickets was long and we had to wait for a later ferry (there were two big ships in port that day). I also would have looked into reserving a private or semi-private boat to take us around the island. Ferry 23Euros Funicolar 1.3 Euros Blue Grotto entrance 13 Euros + 2 Euros (for the row boat "tip") Boat tour 17 Euros We also had lunch and a snack before boarding the return ferry but that's subjective so I'll leave it out. The Blue Grotto is a total rip off but it's one of those things you do once and get a kick out of how it's all done Have a great time!
