rayandshirl Posted December 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Received an e-mail from our TA and Princess asking us not to board at the new terminal tomorrow until 2:00 pm due to operations! The Star has been in dry dock. Looks like with the rain tomorrow, we'll hand the 2 suitcases over to the longshoremen and then head back to the Ferry Building. That's the one port that I'm aware of where the staggered boarding is sometimes enforced. "Operational" could mean any number of reasons. It's a catch-all for "the ship will be cleared for boarding a little late", "the ship will be arriving at the terminal a little late", "security will be set-up late", "the port authorities won't allow passengers to arrive early", etc. and any combination. Have you heard anything about the ship leaving San Francisco later in the evening due to the unfinished renovations? Btw: if you can, eat at Butterfly, its just a few doors away from the cruise port. One of the best restaurants in SF. Not expensive but excellent quality. One of my favorites when I'm down around the waterfront. A taste of Aloha. :) http://butterflysf.com Edited December 18, 2014 by Kingofcool1947
helenb Posted December 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Star's drydock has finished and she is reported as being in the water, heading to Pier 27. So she will be there tomorrow! Whatever the 'operational reason', it is not that the ship will be late!
Pam in CA Posted December 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2014 I wonder if she has to have a Coast Guard inspection before boarding starts.
