ChaCr Posted December 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2014 Hi We'll be on Zaandam for 3 weeks in January. What is the internet reception like, particularly in southern Argentina, the Falklands, and southern Chile? (She hasn't been to Antarctica yet this year. So I can't ask about that.) Thanks in advance for your response. Charles
RuthC Posted December 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2014 In the extreme latitudes, including the most southern part of the southern hemisphere, Internet service can be spotty. That includes Antarctica. It's especially spotty when going through the Chilean fjords; wait until you are back out in broad ocean to try. Trying to watch the AFC championships a couple of years ago, south of the Falklands, the signal was in and out, and eventually lost altogether for TV, although it remained spotty for Internet. We were able to listen to the late game.

boulders Posted December 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2014 We were on that cruise last year. The internet was the usual sloooooow when I was web surfing. Certain times of day were much worse than others. I think early morning was pretty good. Evening was awful. I tried to post to cruisecritic, but it would rarely go through. ChaCr Posted December 20, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Thanks Boulders. I'd probably be doing an occasional email, and then checking the weather forecast for next day's port. Charles

I did really like the unlimited option onboard Zuiderdam this past November and hope that HAL rolls it out fleet wide.
