We have been to Nassau a bunch of times and always went to the beach by the RIU ( cant think of name ) and we are wanting to go to a different beach and thought of maybe Junkanoo. What can you tell me about it...? Does it get crowded? Can you rent chairs and umbrellas there. Are drinks and food available to purchase.??

Junkanoo is a free beach. There are places to get drinks and food near by. I think there were chairs there for rent also but not sure. It is just past the British Colonial Hotel. If you do a google earth search you can find it and see about how far it is from the ship. An easy walk though.

We were at Junkanoo Beach this past Sunday 1/4/15. It was a little crowded and there were only two ships in port. I would think that it would be much more crowded with more ships. While the beach isn't the best beach I've ever been to, it did provide us with a nice place to relax, have some jerk chicken, and drink some Bahamian beers.
