Capri from Salerno

We will be arriving in Salerno on the Celebrity Equinox on May 22, 2015. The ship has a shore excursion to Capri. Has anyone taken this tour? What are the details of the transportation to Capri? We are a large group and do not want to attempt the trip to Capri from Salerno on our own or use a private company due to the distance.

 

We have all been to Pompeii and the Amalfi Drive twice so Capri is a destination we would all like to see.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, Capri from Salerno is one of the situations where a ship's tour often makes good sense. It's difficult to get to Capri from Salerno on your own, there's really only one way to do it and the timing often doesn't align for cruise ship passengers. The ship's tour probably uses the same public transit as one would use on their own, but at least with the ship excursion you have a backup plan.
