Question about Driving to NewYork Port

Does anyone have experience with driving to the port in Weehawken, NJ and then taking the ferry to the NY Passenger Ship Terminal?

Parking is cheaper ($7/day) and secure, traffic may be less congested, but how easy is it to carry around luggage on the ferry and the shuttle bus to the port?

Could you please tell me more about the Weehawken port and the ferry you were talking about? We are going on the Miracle and I am looking for a easy ( read cheap!) to get to the ship. I think will be flying into EWR .
