OSJ vs regular San juan?

Not sure how else to put it. :cool:

 

A few years ago we did a post cruise overnight stay in old San juan, we visited Bacardi, had dinner and wandered around a bit after but many shops were closed because it was Sunday. We visited the forts the next day as well, so I feel like we've covered osj pretty well. We will be doing the same thing end of March, trying to decide getting a hotel in osj again or try one in the beach area of "regular" San juan? What else is there to do in that area?
