Miami Hotels

Can anyone give me some suggestions for hotels in Miami that are somewhat close to the port and are within walking distance to restaurants.

We are most probably going to be spending one evening in Miami in March before our cruise and would like to stay somewhere convenient to all amenities.

Thanks

The best place is the Bayside Holiday Inn, they charged us about 95 dollars for two adults, and one child. You can walk across the street to the Bayside Marketplace, a great way to spend the pre-cruise evening, lots of activity, places to shop and eat and people-watch. Then the taxi to the port is about five dollars!! Can't beat it, we stayed there this past March prior to our Voyager cruise, and you can see the ships in port from the hotel!!

What about the CROWNE PLAZA AIRPORT. My travel agent has suggested this as a place to stay (at only $89 per night) Is it also close to the restaurants/people watching/cruise ship vantage?

Also, Is it better to take the $30 PP round trip shuttle to and from the pier, or should we just take a cab? We took the shuttle in San Juan and it was way more expensive not to mention poorly run and angonizing waiting in the heat for a shuttle bus when we disembarked.

Thanks,

liz
