AmoMondo Posted January 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2015 It can be but you. EEC to be aware of the conditions attached. You can only use in conjunction with pronto price and MSC club discount, no other promotions or discounts. I've managed to use them twice to get €200 OBC both times. Could have used it again for my June cruise on the Divina but I've lost the bit of paper (suspect I binned it with my old boarding passes) and they don't keep records of the vouchers. So if you do buy one, keep it in a safe place!
Rare Shippy Posted January 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2015 If you are talking about the $10.00 coupon. I know there are a lot of restrictions & it does expire in 18 months but well worth the gamble for 10 bucks ! We were in the yacht club last February. I was beyond thrilled with it. When we returned, I booked for this March. That was considered 'early booking' so it qualified. Here are the discounts $150. inside $200. balcony/ocean view $300. suite $400. Yacht Club After I booked with an internet agent, I called MSC & gave them my voucher number. The next thing I know the agency called me and said they got an email from MSC adding $400. OBC. They asked me about the voucher. After I explained it to them, they were shocked & said they never heard of such a thing :O) I imagine you would get even more if you paid with euros because on the voucher, there is the dollar sign/euro sign. I am sure euros are worth more than the dollar. When we go in March, I am going to by another voucher & immediately book another cruise one year out. You receive the currency of the sailing, not that of the voucher. This makes less difference as you might imagine as the Euro prices on board can be just the same numerically as the US$ prices - they just change the symbol. So yes, well-worth the gamble but scan the voucher for future reference and/or emailing MSC or a travel agent.

Losing it has Reverted me getting €200 benefit although I've only actually lost €10. I shall take better care in future!
sidari Posted January 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2015 It would be interesting to know just how many people who have bought them have been able to use the vouchers as against those who have not and how much money it has made MSC ? We were lucky enough to be able to use one we bought but only because of MSC messing up one of our previous bookings.
ylc Posted January 10, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted January 10, 2015 Thank you for all the fellow cruisers who replied to my query. I bought € 10, in Dec. 2014 Those who bought $10 vouchers, are better off € 10 only get me €100 - inside , € 150 - outside , €200 - balcony. When I bought it, I had no plan to cruise within 18 months, but thought it was better odds than casino !!! I just booked a cruise February, 2015, read the condition, it seems that I am not qualify, because I book " last minute price ". But MSC member discount is qualify, I am on the line to MSC, has been holding on for 30 minutes. I will have a go, and see what I get.
Alex71 Posted January 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) We've successfully used a voucher twice. Out of three bookings where we tried to use a voucher, it was accepted twice and rejected once. Edited January 11, 2015 by Alex71
ylc Posted January 12, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted January 12, 2015 Alex71, Thank you for your reply. On Saturday, I was holding on the phone for 45 minutes, could not wait any more. I will try it again tomorrow. Was you fare not full price brochure price ? Wish me good luck. ylc

The term is used in the cruise industry disingenuously always alongside today's special offer price. In practice therefore, the vouchers can only be used with the early-booking ('pronto') rates if available. Some itineraries will be sold from the first day with some other promotion that prevent the use of these vouchers. It really is questionable as to what the brochure price is when you cannot get hold of a printed brochure. Does the MSC web site constitute a brochure? Are the regular prices shown on the web site the brochure prices? Or are we to accept that what we are told is the 'brochure price' is the brochure price even when it is never available to book and another, lower, one consistently is? It would be better to scrap this ridiculous 10 Euro/Dollar voucher scheme which once ends up annoying prospective repeat guests and replace with a more regular advance booking system with benefits that won't disappear when you try to claim them. Wish me good luck. ylc For our second voucher, we got the early booking discount + club discount + OBC from our travel agent + kids cruise free + the voucher. All in all, it was a good enough deal, given that we have to travel during our kids' school breaks. The situation might be different for folks who are able to jump on some off-season last minute specials. Our first voucher was accepted despite booking a special rate, but possibly by mistake. Rare Shippy Posted January 20, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Indeed they are. I will certainly buying one on my next cruise. Wonder if they'd let you buy 2? It would be like buying the $100. one. You can buy several but only use 1 per cruise. I intend to buy 2. We I return from my March cruise, I will book another for next year. Being that it will be far out, there might be a chance I have to cancel, hopefully before the penalty date. If so, I would not be out any money but probably will lose the coupon....so I want a backup one. As far as any earlier poster wondering how much they make on people not using them....come on...a $10. 'bet' on $400. credit. You only have to collect once to be way ahead. I have bought the $100. coupon on other cruielines. Some I have used, some I have not. So many cruises....so little time :O)
ylc Posted January 20, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Hi shippy, MSC vouchers have the shortest life, 18 months, others have 4 years, transferable and can even leave them in your will!!!!! Others have no expiry date. Considering MSC vouchers are the best value, provided you do not displaced them. I plan to buy one at a time. ylc
