mobility scooter on NCL Panama Canal, off in ports?

This will be our 4th cruise but first since spouse has trouble walking distances. Will use a portable,lightweight scooter (Smartscoot) but wonder if we'll be able to get off in ports and explore. He is able to walk short distances, steps with something to hold onto. Scooter is only about 40lbs, and can fold down if needed. Have not booked this yet, hope to do the Xmas cruise. Appreciate input.

See my post on December 7th. We are doing Panama Canal April 2015. Hope I can get some more info on Ports.

Thanks, looked at your post. Am also looking at NCL Canary Island cruise and wonder about same mobility issues.
